Water Is Getting High
This song was inspired by a story where a little girl was thrown into a dark cave to search for a diamond. The old ladies are the voices that are forcing the girl to do this. To me the song was about feeling pressured to create diamonds that were defined by other people. If you know what I mean.
War Is Peace
We were writing the album when 9/11 was still very fresh and the whole war-on-terrorism thing was flaming up. I was feeling quite anxious about the world and where we were all heading. All turned out fine, though… right?
This is my superheroine and mercenary Chaos Grin. She was inspired by my favourite cartoon character Aeon Flux. This collage never made the album cover.
The Bong Song
I have always been heavily into Alice In Wonderland, and the Bong Song is inspired by the caterpillar smoking on the mushroom.
For My Loneliness I Pay
An obvious reference to the movie Requiem for a Dream. This never made the album cover either.
The title of the album came to me in a dream. In it I wondered what the deepest layer of the sea is called. Wikipedia told me it was called the Hadal Zone. This song was originally called Titanic. This collage didn’t make the album cover, as it’s a bit different.
I have a feeling this might have been an early version of Water Is Getting High.
This was inspired by a song, not one of my own, but of my friend’s band Killpretty. They released an awesome album all about heartbreak, and this image was about someone being really beautiful and how you still feel desire for them, but they are slowly disappearing out of your reach and out of your life.
Probably another one inspired by Killpretty songs.
War Is Peace T-Shirt design
We printed this collage into a very limited edition T-Shirt for our Tour de Force- tour.
