Well, that was an exciting weekend! Dark Heart was released on Friday and I've been spending my time on social media responding to comments. It feels good to be out there again and the responses I've had so far have made me so happy. Sometimes I've felt totally crazy doing this again, after so much time away from music, but hearing back from you has made me feel a little less crazy. :D
Now, let me try to put on my best TV-shop voice here..."But wait... there's more!"
Dark Heart is out now, and you can download it for nada. If you are on my email list then just go check out your inbox and the download link will be waiting for you there. If you’re not, then click the “FREE TRACK” link up at the top of this page, subscribe to my email list and I will send the download link to you directly.
If my social media feeds are to be believed, January is that lofty time of the year, when everyone creates their big goals for 2019. I know this sounds like I’m mocking it, but I’m actually one of those people who do that. So here's what I did in January.
I decided on the track that is going to be the first single and I put it on fast track. The mix is completed and I've started the hunt for the perfect person to master this album. I visited Freehouse Studios here in Bristol for the first mastering session just for this track.
The album is in the mixing stage, so I’ve been listening and thinking about the mixes. I’ve also been thinking a lot about the track listing on the album, as in what order the songs should be in. These two tasks actually provide to be incredibly important in terms of how the songs will feel in the end.
Here’s the full five-minute stand up comedy show I did on 1 December 2018. I decided to sign up on a 6-week stand-up comedy course in October, and for the following six weeks I spent my Saturdays learning the tricks of the trade.
Greetings from Finland! I’m writing this from the airport, as I’m waiting for the plane to roll in and take me home to England. I’ve spent almost a week here, working on my record. It’s been fun and I’m really pleased with the results. But let me start by rewinding to about three months ago…
For the past few weeks, I’ve been going over all of the songs that we’re going to be working on. I’ve been listening to them tirelessly, adding little things here, changing sounds, polishing lyrics and editing like there’s no tomorrow.
I signed up for a stand-up comedy course on a whim a couple of weeks ago. Now I spend 3 hours every Saturday learning how to do stand-up comedy. In addition I have homework which requires me to write a 5 minute routine every week.
A train of thought on London, loneliness and working on this album alone.
I’m sitting on a train as I write this. It’s dark and wet outside as the train swishes through the suburbs of London towards the West Country. I was in London for a couple of days. London was busy, and my hotel was fully booked…
