Hey, how’s your summer going? Mine has been very chilled BUT that doesn’t mean resting on my laurels ALL the time. Obviously.
We are, just 2 weeks from the release of Villainess the album, and I spent most of July getting the final pieces together. And a few extra things!
July in Review
First of all, in case you missed it, I finally received the vinyl of Villainess, and it is truly gorgeous. I have never had a vinyl release of any of my previous three albums, and holding the vinyl of this album felt truly amazing. (Check out the unboxing video here.)
Receiving the vinyl also meant delivering the final packages for my Indiegogo-campaign, that I ran back in March. It felt so good to pop those records into their envelopes and finalise this amazing project that was the crowdfunding campaign.
I just want to say it one more time, thank you to everyone who took part! This crowdfunding campaign is the reason these CDs and vinyl exist in the first place. I also loved the fact that we did it together. You gave me your support - and your money - to make this music physical, and it feels truly special to hold these records in my hands. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! AND if you took part and have received your bundle DO feel free to share on social media, or directly with me. I’m so excited to see my stuff in your hands!
I also made sure all the pieces for the pre-order bundles were together well in time in July. I put together a special pre-order bundle for the album release. If you order the album via Record Store X before the release date, you will also get a free download of the Villainess Instrumental (worth £9.99) and a signed photo (not for sale). You have 2 weeeks left to order it here!
I have also been working on getting my own webstore together. After mulling over various technical options and blah blah blah, all I can say is I’m working on it with the goal of having my webstore live on the album release date on 23 August.
The good news is, there will be merch!
I have two different logo designs and t-shirts, hoodies, hats, music.. I will also be releasing new merch throughout the autumn. So good stuff is on its way.
A gig is in the making
As announced, I’m playing a gig with my former band Velcra, so I’ve spent a lot of my spare time practicing my vocals. It’s been really cool. I love singing (you might have guessed) and with the gig coming up, I’ve needed to get more disciplined and intentional about practicing my vocals. It feels like getting fit. I also announced that I won’t be touring with Villainess for now, but if you want to see me live come and see us play on 11 October at Nosturi, Helsinki, Finland. It WILL be a blast.

All Monsters Are Human
And finally, I’ve got a new thing for you! I will be releasing one last single before the album. It will drop a week before the album, on 16 August. The song is called All Monsters Are Human. It’s the only melancholic song on the album, and it has been named as a favourite by almost everyone who has heard the full album so far. So it just had to be a single.
I also made a video for this single. It’s a bit different to the first three in that it’s a lyric video, and I think it really compliments the song. I specifically wanted it to be a lyric video rather than a performance, and the visuals tell the story of the song in such a beautiful, subtle way.
Check out the teaser here.
So that was July! And the gig! And the new single!
Hold on to your hat as August will see the Monsters single, video, the Villainess album, and the webstore releases. I can’t wait for you to get them both!
But right now I’m going to go back to the hammock.
